Projects

Part of supporting academics with their teaching, learning, and scholarship, I regularly provide support with teaching and learning projects through various T&L Grant schemes that are run by the University of Southern Queensland.

For each of these schemes, I lead and facilitate a community of practice that focuses on scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), and this community gathers every month for the duration of the L&T scheme. During these community gatherings, I implement Wenger-Trayners’ model and guiding process for communities of practice: building community, sharing experience, and building domain knowledge. In each gathering, the topics for the next discussion are negotiated among the community members. After the gathering, based on the agreed upon topic, I prepare a coffee course post to provide a starting discussion point for the upcoming meeting. Through this process, the community is able to learn from each other, value-add to each other’s projects, network among like-minded colleagues from across the University, and build relationships that will continue after the L&T scheme finishes.

By the numbers

To date, I have supported 15 projects to completion by the end of 2019, with another 6 projects that are continuing to be supported through to the end of 2020. As new L&T schemes are released, I will continue to support these communities and projects as well.
